Neptune awarded DCU clash |
Neptune traveled to Dublin on the 2nd February last to play DCU Saints. However, with just over one and a half minutes remaining and DCU holding a single point advantage the lights in DCU went out and the game was abandoned.
The ruling of the Superleague Management Board (SLMB) is:
"In accordance with minimum facility requirements – lighting of at least 300 lux must be provided and be functioning (from 30 minutes prior to the game time until the game ends) at each facility. It is the view of the SLMB that the home team must be in control of the operation of the venue/facility and therefore the home team is considered to be at fault if the minimum requirements are not met for the duration of the game. This game disruption due to the lighting failure is therefore deemed by the Board to be the fault of the home team, DCU Saints, and the game is accordingly awarded to Neptune by forfeit on a score of 20 to 0."
The decision is subject to a possible appeal by DCU Saints, but the standings currently reflect that Neptune won the game by a forfeit score of 20 - 0. |
