Neptune members learning to save lives

Neptune recently purchased an AED (Automated External Difibrillator) for Neptune Stadium. Many people will be familiar with these devices, which can be used in emergencies to reestablish an effective heart rhythm when a person has suffered a life threatening cardiac arrhythmia.
We sincerely hope that the device will only have to come out of its cabinet for its regular service and operation check, but we are delighted to have one on the premises. The cabinet is located under the bingo board.

The AED will be officially unveiled by Consultant Cardiologist Dr. W.H. Fennell, a past President of the Irish Heart Foundation, before bingo next Tuesday the 9th December. We are very grateful to Dr. Fennell for taking to the time to come to Neptune Stadium for the unveiling.
In conjunction with acquiring the AED, a Basic Cardiac Life Support Course was arranged by the club to begin teaching members of the club both basic first aid and also how to use the AED. We would like to thank Mr. Eric Donovan for running the course in the stadium, which was extremely well received by those who attended.

Congratulations and thanks go to Monica Buttimer, Cliff Payton, Michael Leahy, Noel Allen, Paul Keohane and Ronan O'Sullivan for attending and passing the course. These club members are now certified to use the AED. All were intimately familiar with their test subjects by the end of the course, as you can see from the pictures below.
