Superleague Playoffs sealed

Neptune 105 - 90 Shamrock Rovers Hoops
Game date: 2/15/2009
Shamrock Rovers Hoops loss midweek to Belfast Star meant that they could no longer catch us for second place, and Limerick Lions loss to Abrakebabra Tralee this weekend ruled them out as well. It all meant that a win over Hoops this Sunday was not mathematically required to make the playoffs, but keeping our momentum going was absolutely vital.

A 105 - 90 victory certainly keeps that momentum rolling, and marks the first time Neptune have topped 100 points this season. Ed Millard and Vincent James have been scoring freely during the current three game win streak, a great sign with the playoffs coming up.

We now know for sure that Belfast Star will be our quarter final opponents. They had an excellent win over a slightly weakened Killester side to guarantee their third place in the Northern Conference. Star have been on a superb run since November. A dreadful 1 - 6 start was ended with a home win over Limerick at the end of November. They have lost just once since, and that was in the Mardyke. They've won their last 7, including a 71 - 81 win in Neptune Stadium.

Neptune will need to keep going next week, when we visit Dublin looking for some revenge for the cup semi-final loss to a reeling Killester, who are just 2 - 3 since Christmas.
